iPhone 3G S, CrazyMikes quick take and yes the S does stand for speed….
06/19/09, CrazyMike-
Anticipation!

FedEx delivered my iPhone 3G S today around 2:00pm Eastern time as promised. I will have to say one thing about Apple they do come through for the customer in the small, but important things. Let’s rewind a few hours before 2:00pm and try to get a mental picture of how mental CrazyMike really is. I cancelled an appointment to cruise home and wait for the FedEx guy to come. I was waiting like a doggy for his master to return (okay, maybe not that weird). Once the phone arrived I took it out and started the process of muddling through setup, which was surprisingly easy. I was not sure how to proceed so I decided while unpacking my iPhone 3G S I would call AT&T to determine how to set up the phone, only 2 minutes on hold (unreal). AT&T had all setup calls routed to Apple (good choice). I did have to call AT&T for a new data plan for Mrs. CrazyMikes new iPhone (my old iPhone) and that was less than a 1 minute wait (freaky, freaky). AT&T, Apple, from my experience you guys were actually prepared, nice job.

iPhone 3G S Performance

I immediately noticed a huge change in speed from syncing. I plugged the new iPhone 3G S into my MacBook Pro and iPhoto pulled up almost instantly. I poked around and found programs that once seemed to take a little extra time to open up, opened up seconds quicker. The biggest proof of this was when I used the FREE Memory app. This app was designed for the iPhone 3G to FREE up at least 20 MB of RAM. The app works very well, but when I went into the app on my iPhone it showed I have 135 MB of RAM FREE, wow, fall of my chair wow. Think about that for a moment. I have been using an iPhone with at any given time a maximum of 20 to 30 MB available, now 100 MB more, incredible. Why is this being down played, I am not really sure, guess will have to ask the guys at Gizmodo or TUAW for an answer to this. I decided to put this to the test playing some graphic heavy games and wow wee. The speed, screen resolution, and overall enjoyment factor are way up with the new iPhone 3G S. Your talking to a guy who goes to bed playing iPhone games (pisses Mrs. Crazymike off to no end). The iPhone 3G S is a superstar in terms of speed and I am glad I spent the money to get this upgraded iPhone.

Appearance

The iPhone 3G S is identical to the iPhone 3G. I did not get my ruler out or scale so if one of freaks out there has weighed or measured the new iPhone, get a life. There is literally no difference between the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3G S. Nice to know I won’t have to go out and purchase any new holsters and such.

To Sum it up

If your on the fence about buying the iPhone 3G S and you have the iPhone 3G, do yourself a favor and get it. You will not be disappointed. CM
