iPod Event Kicks Off Early In Apple’s Online Store, iPod Price Drop!

September 9, 2009 by CM · View Comments

Marco Arment was mostly right on when he put a blog post up about iPod Touch price drops resulting from the iPod Event scheduled today iPod Event Marco Arment. Today when one rolls out of bed, stumbles to the computer and logs into the Apple online store they will get a treat if they are shopping for an iPod Touch.

iPod Touch prices dropped $120 lower for the 32GB, 16GB dropped $50, and the 8GB dropped $40. The iPod Nano also dropped in price 16GB dropped $50 and the 8GB dropped $20. Wow, not unexpected news by those who watch Apple and follow the Mp3 platforms. Is Apple trying to leverage themselves into a good spot before the new Zune comes out? Mostly likely, but Apple has one thing Zune doesn’t. The iTunes Store. Zune could lower it’s price, but frankly I don’t know anyone who has this Mp3 player.

Apple plays their cards smart, but don’t purchase your new iPod yet. There may be a catch to this. What is the pricing going to be on the new iPod Touch revealed today? Is it going to have a video camera? Is it going to follow the same price point as listed in the Apple online store today? Remember the iPhone 3GS and the drop in the 2nd gen iPhone once the 3GS was released. We will know soon enough, either way iPod prices dropping is good for you and I the consumer. This is a continuous process with technology advancements and this makes great technology available to more people. CM
