-News Republic maybe one of the smartest news iPhone apps in the iTunes App Store. At first glance this iPhone app is just another news app with a little bit nicer user interface. However, it is whats under the hood that makes this app a keeper and an easy keeper due to the FREE price point. While the app only has 11 news outlets currently the news outlets included are focused on breaking news, international news, and all topics news worthy. Again it is the engine under the hood that separates this app from others and this specifically is the ability to customize this app by topic. You can set a keyword or phrase and you can get news provided for that topic. The app then provides you the the most up to date news articles based on your topic selections. While there is room for additional news sources, I feel more will be added, but the current news sources provide any news junkie or news junkie wannabe plenty of coverage. CM
