True SMS-Life Saver No Texting While Driving iPhone App | Safe Texting!

Texting while driving is fast becoming against the law in many cities in the United States. Besides becoming illegal texting while driving is very dangerous both to the person texting while driving and innocent citizen’s that person is driving near. Hence the laws making “text driving” against the law. Developer Ricardo Batista has come up with a good solution to help minimize the potential danger with an iPhone app called True SMS-Life Saver No Texting While Driving.

The app itself does not encourage “text driving,” but does allow for a quick text to be sent from a pre-made list of over 100 text templates to choose from after first stopping to send a text. The idea is that once you receive a text you pull off the road safely, access this app and select one of the pre-made text templates to notify the person texting you of your situation (that you are mobile and will communicate more once you reach your destination, etc). Once the app is opened you have 5 tabs on the bottom to navigate around the app. The “send SMS from list” is where you can select a text from the pre-made list and send a text to a number you can pre-set or retrieve from your address book via a “+” sign next to the telephone number box. The “send SMS write msg” has the same functionality as the prior, except you can write your own message. The other tab on the bottom navigation bar that is important is the “set preferences” tab. This screen allows you to have a stored custom message with your phone number or email to be sent from the touch of a button in the “send SMS write msg” screen. You can also change the settings to turn on or off the SMS sending sound and the current speed setting.

True SMS-Life Saver No Texting is a good app with safety in mind, which actually makes this app a great app! Texting while driving can cause the average person to take their eyes off the road for up to 5 seconds, which is extremely dangerous. This app could use a few improvements to make it better such as the ability to write and store multiple custom text templates, the ability to have a saved list of commonly texted phone numbers, and finally Twitter and FB integration. True SMS-LIfe Saver No Texting app promotes safe texting costs $1.99 and receives 4 out of 5 CrazyMikes Head’s for safe texting app. CM

This app needs a LOT of work! The fact that you have to manualy manipulate it in order to send a canned message makes the whole thing moot. I have tried to use this app and in order to respond to an inbound text message, I have to find the person in my contacts list. (It should just give me the option to reply directly to the inbound text, wherin the phone number auto populates the field). In a perfect world, I would initiate the app when when I get in my car, choose the auto response and any texts that arrive while the app is activated are automatically responded to with the canned message. I don't know why this would be so difficult. Perhaps its' and Apple issue. I know that there is an App for Blackberry users that operates as described. I hoping the developer of True SMS Lifesaver makes these updates very soon.

Yes, this app has some room for updates. I like you demand maximum user interface common sense out of apps I use. Cm

this app doesn’t exactly solve the problem of texting while driving. everybody says “you should pull over if you want to answer your texts or calls” and in this case you have to pull over to use the app. everybody says this should be done, yet nobody wants to pull over to do this. their simple solution instead of pulling over is always answering the phone or texting the person back. chances are with this app is they will just do the same. this needs a lot of work.

Yes, i agree. Driving and texting is really, really dangerous and even short cut apps may give the wrong message (sorry for the pun).
